What I can do
As a professional proofreader, I aim to produce a polished piece of work for you. My proofreading services will put your proofs through their paces by checking that text is clear, concise, consistent, correct, coherent, complete and credible. I do this by checking:
- spelling, grammar and punctuation
- capitalisation of words
- abbreviations and acronyms
- fonts and italicisation
- numerals
- paragraph layout
- illustrations, tables, titles and captions
- alignment and text ranging
- running headers
- headings and subheadings
- pagination
- references and footnotes
- preliminary pages
- the appropriate use of language
- your style guide.
I will mark up your text using Adobe commenting tools, Word track changes or BSI symbols as required.
As part of my service, I will identify queries clearly, either adjacent to the text or on a separate document, according to your preference.
In addition, I will provide a style sheet with the finished piece to list the style conventions used and the spelling variants applied to the work.
I want you to be completely happy with the finished piece, and I welcome feedback once the work is complete. I will work with you to achieve the desired outcome.

What I cannot do
As a professional proofreader, I am acutely aware that absolute perfection is the goal. However, absolute perfection is rarely achievable.
Although I cannot promise you absolute perfection, I can promise excellence. I will use my skills and experience to proofread your work to a high standard. Consequently, your work will be presented in a correct and professional format.
